Fatal crash in Charles Town ejects passenger

At 5:44 pm on April 18th, the Charles Town Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on US Route 340 north of the intersection with Patrick Henry Way.

The preliminary investigation shows that a Ford Excursion traveling southbound was approaching the intersection when the driver attempted to abruptly change lanes and in the process crashed into a Ford Focus and tractor trailer that were stopped in traffic.

The driver of the Excursion was ejected from the vehicle and flown to a local hospital for life threatening injuries.

The front seat passenger was declared dead at the scene.

The juvenile rear passenger was flown to a medical facility for life threatening injuries.

Neither driver or front seat passenger in the Excursion were wearing a seatbelt.

Drivers of the Focus and tractor trailer were not injured.

The Charles Town Police Department thanked community members who stopped to render aid at the crash as well as the Ransom Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.

VSP investigate fatal crash in Page County

Virginia State Police are investigating a two car, fatal crash that occurred along Collins Avenue in Page County.

A 2003 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling south crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Helen Desimone, 55, of Luray, was taken to Page Memorial Hospital and later died from her injuries.

The 74 year old female driver of the Mercury, also from Luray, suffered serious but non life threatening injuries.

Her juvenile passenger was also uninjured.

It is believed the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt and a medical emergency is considered a factor in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation.

VSP investigates fatal crash in Clarke County

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal single car crash in Clarke County from Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 4:30 pm along Route 643 when the 2015 Jeep Cherokee ran off the side of the road.

The Jeep collided with a mailbox, telephone pole, tree, and five parked vehicles before coming to a stop.

The driver, Nicole Gray, 33, of Nashville, Tennessee, was not injured and was wearing her seat belt.

The passenger, Michael Ables, 34, of Bluemont, Virginia, was not wearing his seat belt and died at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle.

One of the occupants of the parked cars was transported to Winchester Medical Center for minor injuries.
