The Winchester Police Department held an awards and recognition ceremony last night May 5.

Four Officers and several of the Department’s civilian staff were honored.

Recently promoted Sergeant Sean O’Connor received the Gold Medal of Valor.

Sergeants Amber Polk as well as Officers Jeffery Ferraro and Luke Callas received silver medals of valor.

All four were awarded their medals for their courage under fire in the Nov. 11 incident in which a citizen opened fire on responding Officers.

The assailant was killed in what was ruled justifiable homicide in Dec. 2020.
