Virginia State Police responded to an accident in Fauquier County at the intersection of Route 17 and Granite Street at 10:44 on Friday morning.

One of the two cars involved was a Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.

The driver of the other car died on the scene.

The passenger was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

The deputy also went to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation for the incident is ongoing and the names of the individuals have not been released.
