WCFR assist Shenandoah National Park Police

Warren County Fire and Rescue (WCFR) in a social media post reported assisting Shenandoah National Park Police (SNPP) with an ill patient.

The incident occurred in the Shenandoah National Park (SNP) yesterday Nov.11 at the Gimlet Ridge Overlook.

That overlook is at mile post 18 on the Skyline Drive.

Due to the severity of the unidentified patient’s illness and geographic location it was determined they should be airlifted out.

Personnel assessed the area and determined it was a safe, suitable location to land PHI AirCare 6 out of Culpepper .

The Medevac helicopter was able to transport the critically ill patient to Fairfax Hospital.

No update on the patient’s condition was available at this time.
