The Shenandoah Valley mourns the loss of a football legend
The Shenandoah Valley is morning the loss of Legendary football coach Walter Barr.
In a social media post from Shenandoah University (SU) the school calls Barr the father of intercollegiate football at SU.
Barr was a native of Clarke County and the first football coach at SU.
The legendary coach made a football impact at Clarke, Frederick, Loudon Counties as well as the City of Winchester.
The coach not only had success with SU championships but successes with James Wood and Sherando as well as his own success as a player with Clarke County.
Barr passed away Friday at the age of 85 and will be inducted into the SU hall of fame in 2022.
