Few power outages remain after intense storm

Power providers across the region report as of 5 a.m. August 8 approximately 700 people are still without power.

The areas affected are isolated from Berryville to the Stanley area to the south with more isolated outages in the east Flint Hill, Warrenton, Auburn areas.

As of 5 a.m. approximately 70 active outages are being reported by power providers.

Crews from both Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) and Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperatives (SVEC) are working as fast and safely as possible as conditions improve.

At one point almost 7,000 customers were without power with more than 100 damaged sites reported.
