In a Frederick County Public School’s Director of Policy and Communications Steve Edwards press release it was announced that Sherando High School would be losing a long time coach.

The release states that Sherando High School Girls Soccer Coach Rob Kilmer has decided to resign after 22 years.

With a record of 207 wins, 129 losses and 28 ties Kilmer holds the third highest record in girls soccer in Virginia.

The coach’s team has won the Blue Ridge Youth Soccer Association (BRYSA) cup championship in 2005, 09,10 and 18.

Kilmer’s teams have made nine regional appearances and he has been named the coach of the year several times over the years.

No explanation was given for the coach’s resignation but Kilmer did say in the release he could look back on each of the teams and players he’s coached fondly.

Sherando’s High School Coordinator of Student Activities Jason Barbe added that the resignation was bittersweet and he would miss working with Kilmer.

Barbe went on to say in the press release he was extremely happy that Kilmer would be able to take time for himself and relax.
