Robert A. Blair of Martinsburg has become the new Sheriff of Berkeley County.

The Berkeley County Commission reports unanimous approval of  Blair to fill the unexpired term of resigned Sheriff Nathan Harmon.

In late December Harmon resigned as part of his plea deal after being accused of interfering with the investigation of an accident involving his daughter.

Blair took the oath of office Friday January 19  and will fill the unexpired term of Harmon’s until December 31, 2024.

Three of the 8 candidates applied for the position were interviewed.

The three interviewees were also from Martinsburg.

Along with Blair there was Jeremy J. Farner and David Scott Richmond.
