National Mutt Day at SPCA

Tomorrow is National Mutt Day and the SPCA of Winchester, Frederick and Clarke Counties is celebrating with an adoption special.

From noon to 5 pm on Sunday, adoptions to approved adopters will be just $31 at their location on Featherbed Lane in Winchester.

Mutts or mixed breed dogs can be wonderful and unique additions to the family.

They also tend to live longer than purebred dogs as they aren’t subject to inbreeding or the genetic disorders that come with a small gene pool.

Adopting a mutt also helps fight the cruelty and price gouging that comes with puppy mills.

National Kitten Day at SPCA

Tomorrow is National Kitten Day and the SPCA of Winchester, Frederick, and Clarke Counties are celebrating with an adoption special.

From noon to 5 pm at their locations, approved individuals can adopt a cat or kitten for just $10.

This campaign not only encourages the adoption of cats and kittens by raising awareness of the importance of adopting from shelters instead of purchasing one but also to remind owners to spay and neuter their pets to keep them healthy and reduce strays.
