Stanley Police arrest a suspect in a case of threats

Stanley Police report the arrest of Arthur Weber in a case of  threats being made against a Food Lion store.

Weber is facing charges of  threatening to bomb or damage buildings or giving false information endangering a building.

Weber also faces charges of a crime of harassing another person over the phone or other electronic media which is a class 1 misdemeanor.

The accusations against Weber stem from allegations of threats made Sunday morning.

Weber is currently being held without bond.

Stanley Police Department honor Officer Nick Winum

The Stanley Police Department announced a celebration of life for the late Officer Dominic Nick Winum.

The service will take place at the Pioneer Bank Performance Center, Ed Good Park this Sat. Feb. 26 at 3 p.m..

The new Stanley Police Department will be dedicated in Officer Winum’s honor along with several featured speakers.

Officer’s Winum’s 202 badge number will be official retired at the ceremony.

Officer Winum was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop in Stanley on Feb. 26, 2021.

The Officer had served on the Stanley Police force for five years and was 48 years of age.
