Christmas parades around the Valley

It’s Christmas time in the Shenandoah Valley and this weekend will feature quite a few celebrations and parades.

Christmas on Main in Front Royal gets started at noon today with the Merry Market and Christmas parade at 5 pm.

Strasburg’s Christmas parade down King Street will start at 4:30 pm today followed by a tree lighting ceremony.

Middletown’s Christmas parade will start at 2 pm tomorrow.

The Sports Marshall is Sherando High School and Shenandoah Univeristy alum Darrell Thompson, who is now a pitcher in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. 

The Grand Marshals include the James Wood Volleyball team that recently claimed their first state title.

Strasburg hosts Veteran’s Day parade

The Town of Strasburg and American Legion Post 77 are hosting a Veterans Day Parade today starting at 1 pm.

The parade will begin at the Legion and follow N. Holliday and east King Street before ending at the Strasburg Square.

At the Square, a short program will highlight the individual branches with assistance from the Strasburg High School band and Sherando High School’s National Honor Society.

Veterans and Classic Car owners participating in the parade will meet at the Legion at 12:30 pm.

Mayfest returns to Strasburg

It is Mayfest once again in Strasburg!

The festivities got started yesterday with the Heels and Hops luncheon and music in the Strasburg Square.

Today will feature some of the marquis events like the Duck Race at 1 pm and the parade at 4 pm.

This year has some improvements as well like the free kids zone and nearly double the vendors.

The Strasburg Square and Emporium will have live music starting at 11 am with Souled Out taking the stage at 6:30 pm.

Sunday will cap things off with the Ole Timers baseball game at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Vintage in the Valley returns to Strasburg

The 3rd Annual Vintage in the Valley Festival is back in Strasburg.

Things got started with a decades dance last night.

Today will feature a variety of vendors throughout downtown, live demonstrations of blacksmiths, woodworking, candle making and more at the Strasburg Emporium, and a wine garden in the Square.

Some other events throughout the day will include a car show, fashion show, horse drawn carriage rides, historical storytelling, and a showing of the Wizard of Oz under the stars.

Sunday will cap things off with the Ole Timers baseball game.

‘Tis the Season in Strasburg

‘Tis the Season in Strasburg!

Today will feature a range of activities to help you discover the festive side of Strasburg.

Starting at 11 am in the Strasburg Square, the Strasburg Farmers Market will host the Mistletoe Market which will have plenty of locally made goods for sale.

At 2 pm in the Square, Hot Cocoa and Connections will begin.

This is a great chance to sample many different kinds of hot cocoa, get a picture with Santa, and bring an ornament to decorate the town tree.

The Parade will begin at 4:30 and will shut down King Street.

Following the parade back at the Strasburg Square, there will be a free holiday movie showing.

Vintage in the Valley returns to Strasburg

Strasburg is holding their 2nd annual Vintage in the Valley Festival today from 10 am to 4 pm at the Strasburg Square.

There will be a DJ playing music throughout the decades, a wine garden with a bounce house for adults, and of course over 100 with vintage clothing, antiques and other cool finds.

Today will also feature an antique car show from 10 am to 3 pm on Holiday Street and a fashion show throughout the decades hosted by Lydia’s Closet.

Mother’s Day Market kicks off event season

The Town of Strasburg’s event season kicks off today with the Mother’s Day Market from 9 am to 1 pm.

This is just the first of 20+ events planned for the Strasburg Square this spring and summer.

Today’s event is a partnership between the town and the Strasburg Farmer’s market to bring nearly 30 vendors downtown.

Later, their event season will feature musical performances, comedy shows and more with proceeds going to to a different local nonprofit each month.
