Today Oct. 4 is Viola Roberts Lampkin Brown Day in Clarke County

Today Oct. 4 has been officially declared Viola Roberts Lampkin Brown Day in Clarke County.

The Clarke County Board of Supervisors made the distinction as Viola celebrates her 110 birthday today.

Viola was born on Oct. 4, 1911 in Hume Virginia the youngest of 13 children.

She and her family moved to Clarke County in 1918 where she has lived since.

Viola worked at the Church Street grand home the Knoll as a cook for several decades.

She moved back to the Springfield Farm in the 1960’s where she and her family worked when they first came to the county.

Viola is known as a supercentenarian and the only one in Virginia.

At last report there are only 6 supercentenarians in all of the United States.
