The Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company 70 (SVFC70) reports being assisted by the Elkton and Stanley Volunteer Fire Companies as they responded to a structure fire Sunday July 3.

Fire units arrived at approximately 5:15 p.m. to find the single story home in the 600 block of 10th Street Shenandoah Virginia showing heavy fire.

The fire was moving from the rear of the home extending into the living quarters.

No one was home at the time of the fire with all three cats being rescued by first responders.

The fire was quickly contained but the home looks to be left uninhabitable.

Preliminary investigation indicates the fire was caused by a propane tank exploding.

A completed investigation will confirm the cause of the blaze.
