Frederick County residents are approved for a tax rebate

The Frederick County board of Supervisors announced the unanimous vote to provide Citizens of Frederick County a tax rebate.

Tax relief will be in the form of a rebate on personal property taxes in 2022.

Board of Supervisors Chairperson Charles Dehaven said the rebate will be reflected on the 2022 second half personal property tax bills.

Dehaven added that with assessments on personal property going up the board adjusted the tax rate to mitigate the results.

In order to facilitate a tax rebate for some items subject to personal property tax the board has extended the due date for the second half installment of personal property taxes to January 18, 2023.

Bills for the second half installment of personal property taxes will be mailed around Thanksgiving.

Second half real estate taxes will be mailed at the same time and will also reflect a January 18, 2023 due date.
