MSV hosts Annual Orchid Show and Sale
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley is hosting their Annual Orchid Show and Sale today from 10 am to 5 pm.
Guests can check out a wide array of prize winning orchids, purchase some for your own garden, or learn about caring for orchids from the experts in the Lord Fairfax Orchid Society.
They will even offer advice on your problem plants or have them repotted for a small fee.
Free lectures will also be held on topics including How to Grow Orchids in Your Home, Repotting Your Orchid, and an Orchid Adventure Trip to Columbia.
Admission to the show is free but the regular fee applies to the gardens and galleries.

Annual Gourd Show returns to MSV
Virginia Lover’s Gourd Society’s Annual Gourd Show, Sale and Competition returns to the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley this weekend.
Admission is free to the show and sale which will run from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Gourd artisans will sell their creations and raw gourds will be available for your own crafting needs.
The theme for this year’s competition is “Gourdigami” which pays homage to MSV’s Origami in the Garden exhibit which is in its final days at the museum.
The galleries and gardens will be open during the event with their regular fee structure.
New origami exhibit opens at MSV
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley has a new exhibit.
Today at 10 am is the grand opening of OrigamiintheGarden.
The exhibit will remain open through November 13th, 2022.
Artist Kevin Box takes origami to another level with his metal sculptures.
He has pioneered his own processes and works closely with foundries, fabrication shops, and studio staff.
This exhibit created by Kevin and Jennifer Box features their original masterpieces as well as collaborations with renowned origami artists Robert J. Lang, Te Jui Fuu, Beth Johnson, and Michael G. LaFosse.
The works will be placed around the botanical gardens to draw a connection between the paper for origami coming from plants.

MSV opens doors for free event
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley is opening its doors to the community today from 10 am to 5 pm with free admission to its galleries and gardens.
The galleries feature the exhibit “Norman Rockwell’s America.”
The exhibit showcases his original paintings and 323 vintage Saturday Evening Post covers.
Make sure to check out the Invitational Outdoor Sculpture show with installations from local artists.
From 10:00-2:00, there is a car show for antique and modified vehicles.
Food trucks will also be on the museum grounds.
