Request for a delay in Thomas Caldwell’s trail has been denied

U.S. District Court Judge Amit  Mehta denied a request to delay the criminal trial of Thomas Edward Caldwell.

The prosecution’s request was submitted to afford them more time to prepare for the case.

Caldwell has been accused of participating in the Jan. 6 insurgents at the U.S. Capital.

The Berryville resident has also been accused of being a leader of the national militia group the Oath Keepers.

He and 16 others have a Jan. 31 trial date with the Judge not wanting to delay that date because of the amount of time the defendants will be detention before the trail.

However Judge  Mehta did schedule another status hearing on Oct. 14.
