VSP investigate an Essex fatal crash involving Winchester residents

Virginia State Police (VSP) report by email the investigation of a fatal crash involving Winchester men.

The crash involved one vehicle in the 5300 block of Tidewater Trail in Essex Virginia.

Wednesday May 22 at approximately 2:45 p.m. a Dodge pick up truck pulling a small trailer ran off the left side of Tidewater Trail and overturned.

Three of the passengers were thrown from the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle Martimiano Perez Linares of Winchester and a 36-year-old passenger Jose Angel Romero Hernandez were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

Two other passengers, 61-year-old Jose Euglogio Cruz Gomez and 41-year-old Wulfrono Cruz Gomez both of Winchester were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 42-year-old Linares has been charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence.

Linares was the only person wearing a seat belt in the crash, which remains under investigation.
