SCSO provides an update on the possession of fentanyl by a child

Shenandoah County Sheriff Timothy Carter provided an update regarding the fentanyl pill discovered in the possession of a child.

The single pill was discovered in a vehicle at one of the Shenandoah County Public Schools.

SCSO and the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force have worked cases since the incident which have led to the arrest of an individual believed to be the suspect in this case.

Dylan Christopher Whitmoyer, 23, has been charged with one conut of distribution of a schedule I or II drug and conspiracy to distribute a schedule I or II drug.

He was arrested in Prince William County.

Shenandoah County investigators seized over 3,500 pressed fentanyl pills, a glock 9 handgun and over $12,000 cash.

Whitmoyer was taken to the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center.

He was held on a secured bond of $5,000.

The case is still under investigation.

Sheriff Carter believes the investigation will lead to additional charges.

Sheriff Carter also wants to remind parents that these pills were planned to be distributed in the community and to have a discussion with your child about the legality and devastation of these drugs.
