Suspected Toms Brook arsonist charged with attempted murder

In a Shenandoah County Fire Marshal Office press release it was announced that an arrest has been made in a Toms Brook fire.

Virginia State Police (VSP) arrested 27 year old Andrew Paul Tupin of Round Hill.

Tupin is charged with three felony counts of arson of an occupied dwelling.

He also faces three counts of attempted first degree murder, three counts of attempted second degree murder and two felony counts of property damage.

Tupin is accused of starting a fire in 2019 to a structure occupied by four individuals one of which was a juvenile.

Three of the tenants were asleep inside the building when the fire began.

The three escaped with the family dog.

No one was hurt in the incident but the structure sustained extensive damage and was demolished and replaced.
