Nats-Mets Suspended, Tigers Claw O’s, Esposito Passes

Last night’s game between the New York Mets and Washington Nationals was halted after one inning due to storms in the New York area. The game will resume at 4pm this afternoon with the Nats holding a 3-1 lead, thanks to a Juan Soto 3-run homer, and will become part of a doubleheader. Both games will be 7-inning games, with the radio call on Sports Radio 1450.

The Detroit Tigers pounded out 11 hits on the way to a 9-4 win over Baltimore last night. Anthony Santander and Austin Hays led the O’s attack with 2 hits apiece. The Orioles and Tigers play game 2 of the series tonight at 7:05 at Camden Yards.

And, NHL great Tony Esposito has died at 78 from pancreatic cancer. The 1972 and 1974 Vezina Trophy winner spent nearly all of his 16-year career with Chicago, was 423-306-151, 10th all time among NHL goalies. He was chosen by the league in 2017 as one of the “100 Greatest Players in NHL History.”
