Town of Front Royal implements voluntary water conservation efforts

The Town of Front Royal has joined the ever-growing number of locations asking citizens to begin observing voluntary water conservation efforts.

As of August 18, the daily stream flow rate of the Shenandoah River’s South Fork has dropped below 400 cubic feet per second or approximately 260 million gallons per day.

The town’s permit to withdraw water from the river stipulates that certain river flow rates require various conservation measures.

The current river flow requires the request for water conservation efforts be practiced by all consumers of town water.

The conservation efforts are in effect until further notice.
