VSP combats human trafficking
Virginia State Police are partnering with the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and the Virginia Trucking Association to conduct Operation Safe Passage.
The initiative runs from April 18th-20th and focuses on high visibility human trafficking prevention and public outreach.
VSP will be positioned at truck stops and rest areas across Virginia to help raise awareness and educate citizens about human trafficking.
Gary Settle, VSP superintendent, believes commercial drivers can be “added eyes and ears” to help identify indicators of human trafficking.
