First Responders and local heroes recognized at Valor Awards

Winchester and Frederick County First Responders and local heroes were honored at the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber Valor Awards.

Categories at the 10th annual awards presentation included Lifesaving, Unit Lifesaving, Unit Citation, and Meritorious Action as well as awarding Certificates of Valor.

The Silver Valor Award was presented to Morgan Minor of the WPD for her acts involving significant personal risk and bravery.

The Gold Award of Valor was given to Sam Debergh for their acts of supreme sacrifice or extreme personal risk and heroism that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Valor Awards recognize public safety workers

International Automotive Components Group

Shenandoah County Public Safety workers were recognized during the Valor Awards by the Chamber of Commerce at the American Celebration on Parade.

Sgt. Warren Puff and Master Firefighter Brandon Diehr were awarded the Gold Medal of Valor.

ECC dispatcher Mary Colt posthumously won Dispatcher of the Year which her family accepted.

Woodstock Fire Department’s Chief Aaron Sigler was named Volunteer Firefighter of the Year and Master Firefighter Jon Hammersly was awarded Career Firefighter and EMS Provider of the Year.

11 members of the Sheriff’s Office, Fire and Rescue, and State Police received Lifesaving Awards.

News Makers Todd Jones and Matt Robertson on Co. Budget

Warren County is making the budget available for review by the public and offering an opportunity to voice thoughts on it as well.

We spoke with the Director of Technology Todd Jones and Director of Finance Matt Robertson about it in our latest news maker.

TVRC kicks off the Core of Community weekend tonight 9/2

The top of Virginia Regional Chamber (TVRC) will kick off the 3 day Labor Day weekend Core of Community event tonight Sept. 2.

The Valor Awards starts at 4 p.m. and honors Public Servants and Citizens that have gone above and beyond the call of duty at the Frederick County Fairgrounds in Clearbrook.

News Maker Danita Roble on the Valor Awards

The ninth annual Top of Virginia Regional Chamber’s (TVRC) Valor Awards will be Thur. Sept. 2 and will open the first ever Core of Community three day event.

We spoke to TVRC Director, Event Manager Danita Roble about the awards and what to expect this year.

This year the Valor Awards will be held at Frederick County Fairgrounds in Clear Brook.

The dinner begins at 4 p.m. and honors those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
