The Virginia Cooperative Extension Service notes that the Spotted Lanternfly has become well established in Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, and Warren Counties.

The insect is in its egg laying stage now and the need to eradicate the insect is essential.

The adult Spotted Lantern Fly will create a major threat to area vineyards and other plants and trees.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Service reminds us that you no longer have to report sightings of the insect just kill them and their egg masses.

Information on managing the insect on your property is available here.

Pictures of the insect and its egg masses out of Frederick County are found here.
