VNG to partner with Finland

Governor Glenn Youngkin has revealed that the Virginia National Guard (VNG) has been chosen as the U.S. counterpart to Finland for the Department of Defense National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program.

The official signing ceremony took place at the Finnish Ministry of Defense in Helsinki, Finland.

This partnership is anticipated to concentrate on various aspects, including combined air operations, defense against cyber threats, information and intelligence operations, combined land forces capability in cold weather environments, and support for disaster operations, and facilitating special operations training.

Virginia’s State Partnership Program with Finland builds upon over two decades of camaraderie and collaboration between the VNG and the Finnish Defense Forces.

By working hand in hand, the VNG and Finnish Defense Forces reinforce regional stability and security.

This agreement further solidifies the enduring U.S.-Finland partnership on various defense priorities.
