VA.’s High School voter registration challenge is on

The Virginia Governor’s High School Voter Registration Challenge is now open.

The challenge is to register as many high school voting age students as possible.

Schools that register at least 65% of their eligible senior class receives recognition from the governor.

Students born on or before Nov. 2, 2003 are eligible to register before Oct. 12 to beat the Nov. 2 general election deadline.

The effort is to get young people to become more active and civic-minded citizens.

Expect volunteers and election officials to be providing voter registration opportunities at public and private high schools across the state.
