Frederick County Sheriff’s Department is warning citizens of scammers who are calling and saying that you have missed jury duty.

They are identifying themselves as employees of the Sheriff’s department and are trying to collect money over the phone.

Hang up!

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office will not call you or request money for missing jury duty.

Extreme fire danger for Page County

Due to the lack of rain for the last six months, and the extremely dry conditions across Page County, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has declared a drought warning.

The conditions are favorable for rapid spread fire that has the potential to impact life and safety, can cause threat to property and create widespread hazards.

It is highly suggested that there be no open air burning countywide.

Drought and weather conditions will continue to be monitored to keep the local state of emergency justified for the citizens of Page County.

WCSO issues a warning of suspicious person

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is making citizens aware of a suspicious person.

The individual approached a young female as well as a young girl in the Shenandoah Shores area.

This person was seen driving a blue or purplish sedan possibly a subaru.

Authorities are advising the public to use caution and remind kids not to talk to strangers.

They also recommend that an adult accompany children when outdoors.

The Sheriff’s Office has increased patrols in the area and ask that you report suspicious activity immediately.
