First it’s a busy weekend full of Labor day festivities in Warren County.

We spoke with Warren County Director of Technology Todd Jones about it in our weekly visit in our latest news maker.

Warren County Board approves portions of the WCPS budget

The Warren County Board of Supervisors at their August 16 work session approved six items to supplement the Warren County Public Schools’ budget.

The items to be funded include the cost of 5 percent salary increases, thousand dollar December bonus funding, extracurricular events and athletics, three professional development days, filling eight vacant teacher positions as well as the cost of remaining unspecified  supplements.

In all the board approved the transfer of over $5.7 million to the Warren County Public Schools’ budget.

During the public comment portion of the board of supervisors work session a number of items that were not added to the budget amendment were mentioned.

A number of people did ask for the budget to be fully funded.

Warren County appoints new Fire Chief

Warren County Fire and Rescue Services (WCFRS) announced  the appointment of James Bonzano, II, as their new Fire Chief.

Bonzano joins Warren County from Arlington County where he served in the Arlington County Fire Department (ACFD) in progressively more responsible leadership roles over 34 years.

Bonzano has been Acting Assistant Chief, South Deputy Chief, Personnel Services Section Chief, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Battalion Chief.

Warren County’s board of supervisors voted in favor of the appointment yesterday.
