WCSO makes arrest in Romney, WV

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the investigators with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office launched an undercover online chat regarding the solicitation of minors within the Warren County/Front Royal area.

During the operation, an adult male contacted one of the investigators
acting as a juvenile under the age of 15-years-old.

Throughout the chat exchange the suspect asked for photos and lewd content from whom he believed was a young female.

The suspect also transmitted obscene materials to the investigator.

The investigative team positively identified the perpetrator as Samuel Funkhouser, a 33- year-old male from Romney, West Virginia.

On April 10, 2024, investigators travelled to Romney, WV and, with the assistance of the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office, successfully
arrested.

Mr. Funkhouser was transported to the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail without incident.

Following his arrest, Mr. Funkhouser appeared before a magistrate and was ordered to be held in custody without bond.

The court date for the offenses is set for May 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
