WSCO & WCFR Hosting Water Safety Awareness Day

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) and the Warren County Fire & Rescue (WCFR) are having a Water Safety Awareness Day.

The Water Safety Awareness Day is being held at the Shenandoah River on July 23rd, from 9am to 2pm.

This event is to teach the community about water safety.

A canoe trip will be conducted as part of the event, and is open to participants 10yrs and older.

This event is distinct from the Fun Day happening on July 22nd.

Frederick County Parks and Rec offers lifeguarding course

Frederick County Parks and Recreation is helping to train new lifeguards.

The department is offering its Shallow Water Lifeguarding Certification course the first week in April. Those who complete the course will earn an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED for the professional rescuer. The certification is valid for 2 years.

Sessions will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. April 2-4 and 4 to 8 p.m. April 5 at Super Splasher Aquatics in Delco Plaza, Winchester

The course is designed for participants 15 and older. The cost is $325. The registration deadline is March 15. Details are available at the Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
