Preliminary report on the Clarke County Long Branch fire released

Clarke County Department of fire and EMS and Emergency Management Chief Wayne Whetsell released preliminary report by email on the Long Branch Fire.

The fire destroyed the stable at Long Branch Historic House and farm.

Where many horses were taken to safety one horse did perish in the blaze.

The fire was first reported at approximately 9:15 p.m. Tuesday June 18.

Crews from Clarke County, Mount Weather, Frederick County, Warren County, and Fauquier County responded.

Crews resorted to using a dry hydrant at the pond on the Long Branch property to fight the fire.

No civilians or firefighters were injured in the suppression efforts.

A go fund me account has been set up by Long Branch Historic House and Farm to benefit and support the woman who lost her horse and equipment in the fire here.

The cause and damage incurred by the fire remains under investigation.
