Labor weekend events in the region

A number of weekend activities are planned for the Labor Day Weekend.

Tonight Sept. 2 the 23rd annual Concern Hotline Friday Fish Fry begins at 4 at Frederick County Fairgrounds.

This is Concern Hotline’s biggest fundraiser and features a full fish dinner and live entertainment.

Also tonight Sept. 2 Shenandoah County Fair continues with 38 Special and tomorrow For King and Country.

Saturday Sept. 3 and 4 at Frederick County Fairgrounds it is the second annual Honeycar Barbecue and Brews event benefiting the nonprofit Shenandoah Valley Apple Blossom Festival.

The Appaloosa Festival will be held at Skyline Ranch Resort Sept. 3 and 4 with at least 15 different bands for bluegrass and Americana entertaining hosted by the band Scythian.

For the Benefit of Mr. Gum will be held at Backseat Bar and Grill Sept. 4 with Robbie Limon, Jamie Seeley Band, Mojo Mothership, Off the Cuff and others.

Donations will go towards helping a friend of the musicians recovery.

Regional Independence Day celebrations

 

The Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Front royal begins the Independence day celebrations in the region on Friday July 1.

The gates will open at 4-H at 5 with live music at 7:30 and fireworks at 9:15.

Front Royal has a car show at Lindsey Chevrolet starting at noon on July 3 with a free Cardinals double header at 4:30.

Fireworks will follow the second game at Bing Crosby Stadium both games are free.

Clarke County holds their Independence Day celebration on July 3 at the Ruritan fairgrounds.

The community band at 8:30 followed by fireworks in Berryville.

Old Town Winchester’s Rockin’ Independence Eve celebration begins at 2 with bands throughout the day at the Taylor Pavilion.

The Texas Chainsaw Horns are the featured performers from 7 to 9 with fireworks starting 9:15 at Jim Barnett park.

There will also be free baseball in Winchester on the 3.

Middletown has announced that Washington Football Player Ryan Kerrigan will be the Grand Marshal of their 2022 Middletown Independence day celebration on the 4 of July.

Fred Smoot and Mark Moseley along Miss Virginia 2022 are all schedule to attend the celebration in Middletown.

That celebration will start at 8 a.m. with a softball tournament with activities all day.

The Middletown celebration includes a parade at 5 and fireworks at 9:15 on the 4.

The town of Luray, Sherando Park,  Strasburg Town Park all have activities planned for the 4 of July as well.

Shenandoah County fairgrounds will hold a fireworks display at 9:20 on the 4.

Mew Market will host their Independence Day celebration on July 5 starting at 5 p.m. at the community park.

Sunflower Festival

Saturday September 25th will be the 1st annual Sunflower Festival. From 10am-5pm on 2502 N. Frederick Pike, Winchester VA. Admission is between 2-5 dollars. There will be sunflower fields, live music, games for kids, face painting, a bounce house, food truck, and hand dipped ice cream. Tickets are available for purchase online as well.

Middletown holds it’s 5 annual Patriot Pride Day tomorrow 9/18

Middletown will hold its 5 annual Patriot Pride Day on Sat. Sept. 18 at the town’s Veteran’s Memorial.

A number of activities are planned beginning at 2 p.m..

The first Colonial America reenactment will be held at 3 p.m..

The fireworks display that was schedule for Sat. night has been moved.

The fireworks will now be a part of a special celebration on Oct. 9 for the town’s 225 anniversary.

Oktoberfest returns to Old Town Winchester

Old Town Winchester and Literacy Volunteers of Winchester present Old Town Winchester’s Oktoberfest on September 24.

The event is a German Oktoberfest type celebration complete with the music, dance, food and drink of Germany.

This popular German inspired beer festival will feature not just local breweries but breweries from around Virginia.

The breweries will be lining the Old Town Walking Mall of Loundoun Street from 5 to 10 p.m. next Fri.

Blue Ridge Wildlife Center host WildFest 2021

The Blue Ridge Wildlife Center presents WildFest 2021 Sat. Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4.

Wildlife Ambassadors, Interactive games and events will be available along with representatives from local environmental organizations.

Food trucks will also be available at the Clarke County’s Rotary Club Fairgrounds on Main St. Berryville.

The event is free with donations encouraged to help support Blue Ridge Wildlife Center’s hospital and educational programs.

We spoke to Middletown Mayor Charles Harbaugh 4 about the event in our latest News Maker segment.

Summer Music Theatre: Grease

The Summer Music Theatre is putting on a show of Grease.

Tickets are on sale now visit https://www.ssmtva.org/2021/03/grease/ to purchase your tickets online, or by calling the Box Office (540-665-4569) during normal business hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 12PM to 5PM.

There are shows starting on July 20 with dates available until August 1.

Seating will be limited to allow space between family/ friend groups.

Due to licensing restrictions this will be a live performance only.

There are no digital viewing options available.

Woodstock ROCS continues this weekend

The Woodstock Riley Outdoor concert series continues this weekend with The Seven Bends Band.

A local favorite bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the free show.

Their will be food and ice cream by C & C Frozen Treats of Front Royal.

Food will be available for purchase at 6 pm the show starts at 7 pm.

July 23rd at the W.O. Riley Park Event Lawn and Stage area.

News Maker Greg Butler on This Sat.6/24 event

This Saturday Jun. 26 is national Amateur Radio Field Day.

There will be a gathering of Amateur Radio enthusiast at Fantasy Land Park in Front Royal.

The amateur radio operators also make their services available should an emergency arise in Warren County.

The group will demonstrate their operation starting at 2 p.m. on Sat..

We spoke to Warren County EmComm President Greg Butler about the upcoming event.
