FCSO apprehend a wanted fugitive after a tip

Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) reports being tipped off to a possible armed and dangerous wanted individual heading for Frederick County to sell drugs.

On March 1 the subject who had a extraditable warrant for his arrest out of West Virginia was seen in Cross Junction as expected.

Identified as Francis Belt, the suspect was already known as a flight risk and as expected fled on foot after seeing officers approaching.

Belt produced a handgun from his coat, as he fled and momentarily held it up but then threw it into a trash pile as he ran.

The suspect was caught and taken into custody without further incident.

The firearm was secured, and Belt was found to be in possession of approximately an ounce of what is believed to be methamphetamine.

Belt has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession with the intent to distribute a scheduled substance.

That coupled with the possession of the firearm is another charge along with brandishing said firearm.

Those charges are added to the warrant out of West Virginia including obstruction of justice.
