Harrisonburg Police place charges in a drive by shooting case

Harrisonburg Police report that charges have been placed in a December 1 drive by shooting.

Barboursville resident Chavis Rashad Williams has been charged in the incident.

Williams was already in custody facing charges from another jurisdiction when he was taken in front of a magistrate for the shooting charge.

Williams is now back in the Middle River Regional Jail being held without bond.

The 30-year-old Williams is accused of being involved in the drive by shooting on Old Furnace Road Harrisonburg.

Two victims reported being shot at by a passing vehicle around 11 p.m. December 1.

As the vehicle passed the victims reported hearing a loud bang but the two were left unharmed.

The pair then drove directly to the Public Safety Building where a bullet hole was found in the vehicle.

The case is still being investigated and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Harrisonburg Police at 540-437-2650.
