The Winchester City Council approved a plan to build 34 three story town houses at 520 North Pleasant Valley Road.
The development will be known as Laurelwood Commons and will sit on an almost 3 acre plot of land that has already been approved for rezoning.
The plan also includes a storm water retention pond to alleviate the property’s poor drainage.
A series of underground drainage pipes will be placed throughout the development connecting to a pond.
From there the pond discharges to storm water drainage system north of Pleasant Valley Road.
The construction will eliminate the building that once housed the first radio station licensed to Winchester Virginia and owned by Richard Lewis until 2007.
The building and property were sold to Centennial Broadcasting who still owns the property.
The Winchester city staff still has to approve the site plan before demolition and building can begin.
The full Winchester City Council meeting video is here with the portion on the development approximately 19 minutes in.
