Old Town Winchester has a full year of events in 2022

An email from Winchester’s Communications Director Amy Simmons announced the first full year of events since the pandemic.

The official Old Town Winchester major events calendar includes seven major events and two ongoing events through Dec..

The events to be held downtown in our immediate future include this weekend’s Feb. 5 Chocolate Escape.

The Celtic Fest event is scheduled for Mar. 12.

A full slate of events are planned for Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival including the annual Wine Fest which starts Apr. 22 in Old Town Winchester.

KidzFest returns May 14 this year in Old Town as well.

Winchester SPCA and Frederick Co. Parks and Recs team up

This Saturday Oct. 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. Clearbrook Park Frederick County Parks and Recreation and Esther Boyd animal shelter team up for a free event.

According to the Frederick County government social media site the Paws to Pavement event features several adoptable dogs.

These dogs will be at the James Wood Shelter at Clearbrook Park for you to meet and get to know.

Volunteers will pick a pup and take it on a walk around the park’s trails.

This will help promote animal adoption for better quality of life for the shelter dogs.

The social media site states that a special Halloween treat will also be available at the event.

This partnership between Frederick County Parks and Esther Boyd animal shelter helps promote wellness, adoptable dogs and community parks according to the social media post.

Baskerville at the Little Theatre

Winchester Little Theatre is presenting Baskerville  written by Ken Ludwig and directed by sally Anderson.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson must solve the mystery of ” The Hounds of the Baskervilles”.

Sunflower Festival

Saturday September 25th will be the 1st annual Sunflower Festival. From 10am-5pm on 2502 N. Frederick Pike, Winchester VA. Admission is between 2-5 dollars. There will be sunflower fields, live music, games for kids, face painting, a bounce house, food truck, and hand dipped ice cream. Tickets are available for purchase online as well.

Winchester Insight Citizen’s Academy is back for 2022

The City of Winchester’s Insight Citizen’s Academy is back for 2022 with a new retreat format.

Attendees will get an inside look at local government, meet staff and tour facilities.

Space for the event is limited.

You are encouraged to register as soon as possible for the January 19 event at winchesterva.gov/insight.

The inaugural Let Freedom Swing festival is set for Saturday Jul. 3 in Old Town Winchester.

A Civil War walking tour of Winchester

A walking tour of Winchester Civil War sites is scheduled for Saturday June 12 at 11 a.m..

The tour will be led by Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation Park Ranger Wade Custer.

The tour begins at the Civil War Museum at 20 N. Loudoun St.
