WPD conducts an underage vaping operation

The Winchester Police Department (WPD) Criminal Investigations Division with the Community Resources Team announced an underage vape operation has been conducted.

The operation targeted S and M Tobacco and Vape and Smoke King Vapes shops both on Berryville Avenue.

Plume House Vape Company shop on South Loudoun Street.

The Tobacco Hut Vape and Cigar shop on South Pleasant Valley Road.

The Smokers Den shop on Weems Lane.

The Tobacco Hut and Vape and Smoke Up Vape shops  both on Valley Avenue.

Each of those locations were found to have clerks that sold nicotine related vape products to underage customers.

Each of those clerks were charged with violating Virginia code.

The code prohibits the purchase, possession and sale of tobacco products, nicotine vapor products and hemp products intended for smoking to persons under 21 years of age.

Violators of that code are subject to a civil penalty.

WPD Chief Amanda Behan commended the community members who expressed their concerns and the leadership that made the operation successful.
