A press release form Valley Health’s (VH) Public Relations Manager Carol Weare relayed that Winchester Medical Center (WMC) has received national recognition again.

For the fourth consecutive year WMC has received a grade of A in patient safety.

The independent national watchdog organization Leap Frog awarded the A in national recognition of WMC’ achievements in protecting their patients.

The Leap Frog group awarded an A, B, C, D or F to almost 3,000 general acute care hospitals across the country.

The grades are based on over thirty evidence based patient safety performance measures.

The measures reflect errors, injuries, accidents, infections and systems in place to prevent harm.

VH’s Quality and Patient Safety Officer Nicolas Restrepo went on to say in the press release that safety is top of mind at the hospital systems.

Restrepo went on to say that safety is reinforced everyday, every shift, every unit with safety huddles and other practices they have developed and standardized.

Leap Frog’s safety grade is the only hospital ratings program based excursively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients according to the release.
