Interstate 81 shuts down for the morning of March 24.
A tanker truck spilled diesel fuel onto Interstate 81 North this morning, March 24, a little after 8 a.m..
The Interstate north was completely shut down from exit 283 Woodstock to exit 302 Middletown.
The shut down caused major delays on both 81 and congestion on Rt. 11 in both Woodstock and Strasburg.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) conducted clean up which lasted into the afternoon.

Woodstock appoints a new Town Manager
Aaron Grisdale has been appointed the new Woodstock Town Manager.
Grisdale replaces Angela Clem who begins her new position with the city of Harrisonburg.
Grisdale was unanimously approved to replace Clem at the regular monthly meeting of the Woodstock Town Council.
A Woodstock native, Grisdale joined the town staff as deputy town manager in September 2019.

Woodstock Lions donate to 7 Bends St. Park
Woodstock’s Lions Club presented a $6,000 check to the Friends of Seven Bends State Park.
The funds are allocated for the future site of the River’s Way Natural Playground and Outdoor Classroom at Hollingsworth Road in Woodstock.
Construction on the site is slated to begin later this year.
