The Quaker Run fire in Madison County continues to burn outside the Shenandoah National Park (SNP) Boundary.

At last report from the Virginia Department of Forestry (VDF) nearly 75 percent of the fire line encircling the fire is complete.

Authorities are expecting the winds generated by a cold front moving through the area to cause smoke to become more visible in surrounding locations.

The fire has burned 510 acres so far with 40 percent of the fire contained.

That cold front could also bring some much-needed precipitation to the area.

Firefighters remain vigilant and report that no homes or structures are being threatened.
