The River 95.3 Blood Drive Tour will stop at the George Washington Grand Wyndham Hotel on Monday, October 20th, for the Charles and Virginia Zuckerman Memorial Blood Drive. The Drive happens from Noon until 6 pm, and Randy Woodward will broadcast live from 1 until 3, courtesy of Midway Service Center.
Charles and Virginia Zuckerman were huge supporters of the Red Cross, and the community. The couple served as the Mayor and First Lady of Winchester for eight years. Mr. Zuckerman was a Red Cross volunteer starting in 1949, when he donated his first pint of blood. He was a member of the local Red Cross Board of Directors and served as Chapter Chairman. Charles was the recipient of 1990 Clara Barton Award, and the Humanitarian Award in 2006. Over the course of his donorship, Mr. Zuckerman gave over 38 gallons of life-saving blood!
Virginia, or “Jenny,” as she was known, served as a volunteer for the ARC for over 25 years after retiring as a nurse with Winchester Memorial Hospital. In addition, Jennie volunteered for Glen Burnie Museum, and served as President of Crime Solvers.
Charles and Jenny passed away with a few months of each other in late 2020. They had been married 72 years. Please honor them by giving blood on October 20th, or at a drive near you.
