Top of VA Regional Chamber Awards $5,122 Check

18 February 2019 Winchester Frederick County News

This week, the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber will be presenting a check to the Winchester Sheriff’s Office’s Project Life Saving Scholarship.

The organization will donate $5,122 in all to the program on Thursday (2/21/2019) at the Winchester Sheriff’s Office. Those funds will be used for a tracking system for people who wander and get lost as a result of Alzheimer’s or autism. Funding will cover initial startup fees and provide “scholarships” to local families that deal with this situation but cannot afford the cost of the equipment. The check represents a portion of the proceeds raised at the Regional Chamber’s 2018 Valor Awards, an event that recognizes members of public safety departments and everyday citizens who have gone above and beyond to ensure the safety of others.
