Traveling Art Club: Free Arts Programming for Youth
September 23, 2019
The Buddy Bench program at Middletown Elementary will be piloted by the Traveling Art Club. The goal is to teach youth to invest in their communities and do good through art. Once a month the Club will offer arts programming for the school. Students will receive take home supplies so they can explore their artistic potential.
On alternating Tuesdays and Fridays, the Traveling Art Club will be at Bowman Library in Stephens City. Tuesdays will be the Investigation Station. The Club will leads the kids on an investigative journey that dives into a new story each week. Following the story kids will enjoy creative arts like painting and music. Fridays at 11 am are free art play days. The idea was inspired by the “Build Together” program already being performed at the Library. Students can choose their own task, with optional help from local artists and volunteers.
The Traveling Art Club is a non profit organization that aims to mentor, educate and supply youth talents around the Shenandoah Valley. All of the programs hosted by the club are at no cost.
