Unemployment Rate in Shenandoah Valley Lower than State

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced earlier this month that the state unemployment rate is now at 4%. However the average around the Shenandoah Valley is less than that. Around the region the unemployment rate is around 3.5%.
Manager of the Virginia Employment Commission says this is due to economic development over the past years, expanding businesses and plants that are always looking to hire, such as poultry plants. She added that foot traffic into places like the Valley Workforce Center remains constant but not what it was like in previous years.
