Update: on VSP’s chase and shooting in Northern VA.

Virginia Sate Police (VSP) announced that they became aware of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) traveling with improper registration and plates.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. Apr. 5 a state trooper attempted a traffic stop of the SUV which was ignored by the driver.
Pursuit was initiated in Fairfax County and was heading toward Manassas in the Prince William County area.
The SUV attempted to leave the interstate at exit 148 in Prince William County when it left the road and crashed into the woods.
As troopers approached the disabled vehicle the driver began shooting at them with officers returning fire.
Both the male driver identified as Michael Davis and his passenger reputed kidnap victim Tatiana David sustained injuries.
Davis was flown to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries David died at the scene.
The cause of David’s death will be determined by the medical examiner.
No police were injured in the incident.
In accordance with state police policy VSP personnel involved in a shooting are placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
