Updated FCSO investigation of school threat

A report from Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) School Safety Division indicates that the investigate into the online social media threat involving a Frederick County Public School continues.

The threat alluded to someone coming to a school with the intent to cause harm to others on Sept. 6.

After an initial investigation and assessment the threats were not believed to be credible.

Despite that out of an abundance of caution extra resources were deployed to the school.

Anyone with information about the threat or persons responsible for them is asked to contact the FCSO with any information.

it is important to note that either written or computerized threats of this type toward  persons at a school or a school sponsored event  is a class 6 felony offense in the state of Virginia and punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
