VA. unemployment rate falls again

An email from Virginia’s Employment Commission announced that Virginia’s unemployment rate fell to 3.2 percent in December.

Non agricultural wage and salary employment increased by over 12,000 for the month of December.

Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate continues to be below the national rate of 3.9 percent.

Employment rose in nine of eleven major industry sectors in Virginia for the month of December.

Some of the largest gains in jobs occurred in leisure and hospitality, professional, business services and trade and transportation among others.

Declines occurred in only two categories which included government and information in December.
