Valor Awards dinner slated for November 3

WINCHESTER – Members of the community are invited to attend that The 4th Annual Valor Awards, to honor local public safety members and every day citizens who have gone above and beyond to ensure the safety of others.  During a press conference today, the Top of Virginia Chamber announced the 2015-2016 Valor Award Winners.  The award recipients are:


  • Patrick Lickey, Ralph Elliott, Darrell Ferrebee – Town of Berryville Public Works
  • Daniel Stottlemeyer and Jackson Miller – Civilians
  • WFR A-Shift Personnel – Winchester Fire & Rescue
  • WFR B-Shift Personnel – Winchester Fire & Rescue
  • Deputy Steven Alger – Frederick County Sheriff’s Office
  • Firefighters Bryant Gochenour, Jeffrey Hartman, Matthew Morris, Kevin Layman – Winchester Fire & Rescue
  • WPD Officer Jason Schumer, Officer Thurman and Communications Specialist Kelly Brill – Winchester Police
  • Keith Nixon – Winchester Police
  • Deputy William Comstock & Deputy Aaron Jeter – Frederick County Sheriff’s Office
  • Warren Gosnell – Frederick County Sheriff’s Office
  • Deputy Eric White – Frederick County Sheriff’s Office
  • Jason Hough – Clarke Co. Sheriff’s Office
  • Deputy Eric Cutter – Frederick County Sheriff’s Office

chamber-logo-headerCategories include the Citizen’s Award, Lifesaving Award, Unit Citation, Meritorious Action Award, Certificate of Valor, Bronze Medal of Valor, Silver Medal of Valor, and Gold Medal of Valor. These awards will acknowledge heroic acts during the time period of January 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016.


The Valor Awards ceremony will be held November 3, 2016 at the Best Western Lee-Jackson Inn & Conference Center from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. The event is open to the public, but advanced tickets are required.  Individual tickets are $50. They are available for purchase at the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber or online at:http://www.regionalchamber.biz/events/details/valor-awards-2016-11-03-2016-3009.  A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Canteen Unit of the Winchester Fire and Rescue Foundation.
