A Regional Emergency Response Initiative was launched by the State of Virginia in Page County and Shenandoah County to help in the wildfire fight.

Over 4,000 gallons of fuel were delivered Saturday March 23 with food and provisions along with additional firefighters and much needed rain helped firefighters contain the fires.

Additional support from the Virginia Departments of Emergency Management and Forestry is offering relief to local firefighters who have been conducting operations since March 20.

All departments are helping to coordinate with Page, Shenandoah, Rockingham, Augusta, and Highland County authorities in support of the firefight.

Route 211 opened fully March 24 at 6 p.m. with damage assessments being conducted.

Page County announced that all evacuations have been rescinded as of 8 p.m. March 24.

Residents are asked to self-access their property and report any damage to the Virginia Department of Emergency Management here.

Shenandoah Fire and Rescue announced that the New Market fire is contained with residents able to return home.

Be alert and aware that fire crews are still on hand to watch for hot spots and possible flare ups and asking residents to remain vigilant.
