VDOT public hearing scheduled for Winchester

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced they will host a public hearing Tuesday January 24 at Rouss City Hall.

Citizens are welcome to offer input one on one with officials and planners of the projected $45 million improvements to the Millwood Avenue Route 17, 50 and 522 interchange in Winchester.

The proposed changes include the creation of two left turn lanes for westbound Millwood drivers turning onto Apple Blossom Drive.

At the intersection eastbound a third lane will be added all the way to the Interstate 81 southbound ramp.

The intersection at Millwood and mall Boulevard could be eliminated along with the traffic signal which could improve traffic flow.

This project is projected to begin in the spring of 2025 and will include the Millwood Pike bridge work.

The public hearing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. with written comment accepted at the gathering or 10 days following Tuesday’s meeting.
